Samsung St60 Digital Camera - Light, Stylish, Small And Durable

Having recently been in the market for a new digital camera and the only specifications in mind was that it would be 10 megapixels or more, rechargable and small enough to be conveniantly carried about. The end result was my purchase of the Samsung ST60 digital camera.

The camera come supplied in quite a small box containing manual, software CD, USB cable, A/V cable, battery and charger. It seemed to cover everything I needed and more in a digital camera, the main thing that appealed to me was the fact that it was very slim (Dimesions 90.9 x 56 x 16.5mm), and encased in steel so hopefully up to the rough life in will undoubtedly get. The camera was available in four colours black, red, purple, and silver. I ended up settling for the black one as the red and purple were out of stock and the silver didn't appeal.

The picture quality of the camera is great with 12.2 megapixels and what seems to be a good lens which also has a filter that allows for different effects whilst taking a picture. The smart album feature of the camera is also very good storing photos in order or organised as you wish, and the camera can also perform a face search if you are looking for a photo of someone who is with you.

Dual Image Stabalisation is included as a feature on this camera and adjusts, and accounts for not only vibration/shaking but also light conditions etc whilst taking a picture. The Smart Auto system also helps here by keeping the camera set in the right mode low light/anti red eye etc.

An added bonus of this digital camera is that it can record HD videos so acts as a very basic camcorder but with decent enough results. The generous sized 2.7" (for the size of the camera) LCD screen gives a great picture and is not to difficult to view in direct sunlight, and easy to record with plus quick to access the record feature from the main menu.

Once the photos and videos are on the cameras memory or SD card the files are easily transferred to your computer by simply plugging into a PC selecting the connect to PC option. Then it is simply a case of either browsing through with either the software supplied with the camera or viewed as thumbnails in a windows folder. The option is also available to automatically transfer photos to the PC hard drive once the camera is plugged in.

The camera is very easy to use despite the small size, Samsung haven't strayed too far away from a typical digital camera in the way of the controls or menus giving it a very familiar feel when navigating around, and using as many other digital cameras.

My only real complaints about this camera are:-

1. Only 4x optical zoom however this affects me rarely

2. The internal memory is only 20MB. However SD cards are readily available at small enough prices.

This camera cost me 99.99 and I feel as if the price was justified and I would definately recommend at least trying one of these out in store if looking for a decent digital camera that dosen't cost the earth. All round a great little camera with a few tricks up its sleeve and probably at least a couple of features I haven't found or figured out yet and therfore not mentioned here.
